ABOUT
Dansou (男装) means "to dress up as male". Dansou Idols are female idols creating a male alter of themselves.
Fudanjuku's goal is to make people feel good, therefore their songs are positive and inspiring.
The group was formed in 2007, when the members of Nakano Fujoshi Sisters (a group of female otaku idols) started to dress as males. From 2007 to 2011, the members were performing both as females (in NFS) and males (in Fudanjuku), but NFS went on hiatus in 2011 for the members to dedicate themselves to Fudanjuku which was more popular.
After the leader Shijuuin Yousuke's graduation, the group changed its name from 腐男塾 (Fudanjuku with the "Fu" kanji wich means "rotten" and is used to write Fujoshi and Fudanshi) to 風男塾 (Fudanjuku with the "wind" kanji) hoping it would make it easier to find a sponsor.
With 13 years of activity and 26 singles, Fudanjuku has a long and rich history as a group. Every original member has already graduated (the last ones left in 2017) but new generations kept on writing the group's story.
Fudanjuku is the pioneer of Dansou idols, but there are now two other Dansou groups : Ael and Euphoria. The three groups are reunited under the Dreamboat label.
